A significant milestone has been achieved in Georgia’s medical education and ultrasound community: the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG) has officially approved the educational course “Prenatal Ultrasound in Clinical Practice,” organized by the Ultrasound Academy Association.
The course was developed and is led by Dr. Fiqria Rekhviashvili, MD, PhD, radiologist and Founder and Chair of the Ultrasound Academy Association.
The programme is officially listed by ISUOG as an ISUOG Approved Course, with the Ultrasound Academy Association named as the organizing institution. Importantly, ISUOG identifies the event as the first ISUOG Approved Course in Georgia.
This international recognition represents an important achievement not only for the Ultrasound Academy Association, but also for the broader medical education community in Georgia. It demonstrates the growing capacity of locally developed educational initiatives to meet international professional standards and strengthens Georgia’s engagement with the global medical and scientific community.
“Prenatal Ultrasound in Clinical Practice”
“Prenatal Ultrasound in Clinical Practice” is an evidence-based educational programme in obstetric and gynecological ultrasound, developed in accordance with contemporary international recommendations and ISUOG guidelines.
The programme addresses key areas of prenatal ultrasound practice, including:
- First- and second-trimester ultrasound assessment;
- Systematic evaluation of fetal anatomy;
- Ultrasound markers of chromosomal abnormalities;
- Assessment of the fetal central nervous system;
- Fetal cardiac assessment;
- Doppler ultrasound;
- Assessment of fetal growth restriction;
- Ultrasound assessment of multiple pregnancies.
The course combines expert lectures, interactive discussions and practical demonstrations, with the aim of advancing structured, evidence-based prenatal ultrasound practice in Georgia.
